Linguine are a type of long pasta made from durum wheat semolina obtained by extrusion and subsequent drying of pasta. They are also known as “flat spaghetti”.
They belong to the bavette and trenette family (in Genoese “trena” means “strings”) originating from Genoa. linguine has a rectangular section, unlike spaghetti which has a round section.
